Our History

This Project was started by a committee of twelve people from Croaghan Heights.Who were keen to work towards making Lifford a better place to live.

In 1992 the project was included in the National Community Development Programme

New premises were obtained and a part-time community worker and administrator were employed

The Community Employment Scheme started in the Centre 22 years ago

Environmental Work is carried out by the environmental workers supporting local groups and clubs:

27 workers provide service to

  • Lifford Celtic
  • Croaghan Heights
  • Lifford Environmental Group
  • Select vestry of Clonleigh Parish Church

The centre had to extend the building in order to accommodate the increasing services on offer

We began running Full time & Part time Community education Classes

We opened our Astro Turf facility

The ABC Childcare Centre came next and is going from strength to strength

The Centre decided to go it alone as an independent body.

We opted out of National Community Development Project which meant we had to become self sufficient with out core funding
